Even our pet dogs have great risk of developing and suffering allergies. When you find your dog constantly scratching its skin producing sores all over, then it might be suffering from allergies.
Here are some ways to treat those dog allergies:
Generally, you can give your dog a regular bath in cool water, using shampoos that have eucalyptus and aloe vera. These components can help eliminate the itchiness, until it completely heals. Giving your dogs food rich in fatty acid and minerals will also help.
Medically, you can give your dog antihistamine and steroids. If infections occur, you may provide antibiotics. Note that such steps may yield side effects to your dogs. To prevent this, consult your veterinarian for proper medication.
Immunotheraphy is now a trend among pet lovers. Dogs are given certain shots to prevent the development of allergies.
There are specific treatment for dog allergies that one may prescribe depending on the kind of allergy that has stricken your dog.
Inhalant allergies – these are the allergies that develop from air, which sometimes carry pollens and other dust-like materials that may cause allergies to your dog. Regular vacuuming and dusting the places where your dog usually stays will prevent such allergies to occur.
Flea infestation – there are dogs that are allergic to flea’s saliva. To treat this, you just have to control the fleas in your place. Properly grooming your dog, and regular bath using anti-flea products will also help prevent the allergies.
Dog food – give your dogs hypoallergenic foods that could prevent development of dog allergies.
